21.06.2017 – 04:06 pm

Did you know that Essendon Airport has a Community Aviation Consultation Group (CACG) which meets quarterly to discuss matters relating to airport operations and their impact on surrounding communities?

CACG meetings for Essendon Airport commenced in 2010 and replaced the Noise Working Group which was established one year earlier and provided a similar function.

Achievements of the CACG over the past 7 years include the implementation of Australia’s first Fly Neighbourly Agreement and publication of a Community Information Booklet for residents.

The CACG’s plans for the next 12 months include:

  •   Refresh of the Essendon Airport Community Information Booklet and distribute to homes within the local area;
  •   Consultation regarding impacts from Melbourne Airport’s proposed 3rd runway;
  •   Consultation regarding proposed community engagement activities for the Essendon Airport draft Master Plan 2019;
  •   Briefings regarding airport developments and environmental management; and
  •   Dialogue with new operators to promote the Fly Neighbourly Agreement.

Membership of the Group comprises:

  •   Mr Peter Khalil MP, Federal Member for Wills
  •   Mr Danny Pearson MP, State Member for Essendon
  •   Cr Narelle Sharpe, Moonee Valley City Council
  •   Mr Frank Manti, community representative
  •   Mr Kevin Walsh, community representative
