Airside Access

All persons at the airport requiring unescorted access to security sensitive areas are required under government regulations to have a valid ASIC as well as an operational need. 

Persons requiring lawful access, either pedestrian or vehicle, should complete the application form, and submit the form to Essendon Fields Head Office. 

Applicants must undertake and pass Security Awareness Training prior to receiving access.

All access control permissions are subject to the terms and conditions of issue by the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 and the Issuing Body.

Authority to Drive Airside course

An Authority to Drive Airside training course is available at the offices of  Essendon Airport Pty Ltd.  These courses run on a monthly basis.

Current scheduled dates are as follows :

*  Wednesday 15th February, 2017

*  Wednesday 22nd March, 2017

*  Wednesday 12th April, 2017

*  Wednesday 17th May, 2017 

Each course holds 8 attendees so bookings are essential.

Please note :  These dates are subject to change

(Category 1 courses commence at 10.00am / Category 2 courses commence at 11.15am)

 The duration of the course is approx. one hour – with a  short test on conclusion.

Requirements for the courses (prior to course commencement date) are as follows:

For Category 1 (apron only) :

Must email colour copy of identification –

1. Current ASIC and

2. Current state or territory driver’s licence.

 

For Category 2 (apron & taxiways) :

Must email colour copy of identification –

  1. Current ASIC

  2. Current state or territory driver’s licence and

  3. Radio licence

     Please note : All of the above original ID’s must also be presented on the day of training.

 

Please note :  There is a new Cancellation Policy for Essendon Airport Authority to Drive Airside (Airside Driver Training)  :

Cancellation Policy - effective from 01 August 2015 for Essendon Airport Airside Driver Training 

Cancellations MUST be notified in writing (via email) no less than 24 hours prior to the training course date/time. 

After this time, no registration fee will be refunded, but replacements will be accepted.
